In the sage words of Ice Cube: It Was a Good Day.

Dude, today is the best day!

1. For starters, I got to upgrade my iPhone yesterday to a 3GS and it is so fast and functional it's not even funny. And I can receive phone calls! And voicemail! And text messages! And even MMS-ing! I am beside myself! I feel like I've joined the 21st century, me with my properly-functioning phone...

2. Finally got a printer installed that has been IMPOSSIBLE for the last 10 months; and before you begin to wonder, it wasn't just a regular install...I had it installed on the Mac, but couldn't get it to print any MS Office documents through the Windows virtual machine (although I had the other two Macs printing Office docs just fine so conceivably should have known what needed to be done). And this morning, I tried one last time before just deciding to go buy a new printer and it worked!!

3. Got a program re-installed, functional and printing documents & reports that hasn't worked for months!

4. Also finally got an iPod synced to the office computer and music files transferred, while not a huge victory, sure goes a long ways towards quality of life at la oficina!

And this is all in spite of the fact that it's a Monday.

Shiny and Happy

So, this is me now:

Got my hurrrr did.

I went to see Erica yesterday and she made my hair feel shiny and new and ready for fall. If anyone else is needing a hair-refreshing, you should get on down to Norman to see her. It's worth the drive, I promise :)

And this has NOTHING to do with hair, but it's making me smile so I thought I'd share:

Love is a many splendored thing.

I 'borrowed' the following quote from my newest (this week anyway) favorite blog:
Quiet Life

Our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy.
That is not our business and, in fact, it is nobody's business.
What we are asked to do is to love, and this love itself will render both ourselves and our neighbors worthy if anything can.
Thomas Merton (1915 - 1968)

Isn't that great?

There is a dog on the roof.

No, this is not my attempt at a funny or clever title. I just watched a dog climb up a ladder and now he's running around the roof of the office building.

Apparently, he's been doing this since he was six months old and he's already famous:

Vicks VapoSteam V1300 to the rescue!

SFA received their first DVD review last Friday, and you can read it here: Oklahoman Entertainment blog

Currently, promoting the dvd has taking a backseat to recording the second kids CD (10 new songs-woohoo!); they've been in the studio for the last 4 days and are pleased with their progress so far. Today was supposed to be vocal tracking but this morning all the allergy counts were at DANGER RED ALERT levels so I made an early morning emergency trip to walgreens to get vaporizers, sinus treatments, cough drops, throat sprays, a whole aresenal so Wiser can try to power through. Bless his stuffy lil head.

Saturday evening we went to a lovely outdoor wedding (thankfully our rainy OK weather decided to cooperate) and then rushed over to Bellini's for a SURPRISE birthday party for Mindy. And she was. And I don't have a single picture. What a dummy. I just got caught up in the excitement of it all. Oh well. It happened and it was wonderful.

This weekend I'm helping with a baby shower for my dear friend Ashley and I WILL get some pics. I'm very excited to see how everything comes together; lots of girly cuteness...but not enough to gag you, promise, Ash :)

Bad blogger...bad bad blogger.

IMG_6566
This is a sunset we stumbled upon while out for a drive one night by Lake Arcadia. Wowsers.

I'm surprised I haven't forgotten my password to my blog, it's been so long since I've been here...

Just a quick update in the life of the Wisers:

This last Friday night we went to Red Pin (in Bricktown by the movie theater) with our friends Shawn and Leigh Love and then walked over to Bolero and enjoyed a dinner of tapas; I think the fried goat cheese with honey was my favorite, yummmmmy. Saturday I worked on some top secret projects *to be revealed at a later date* and then Sharla came over for sushi and OU football (Boomer!) on pay-per-view. Yesterday we had a lazy-ish day - I think the rain does it - and then we went over to the Wilson's for a yummy bucket-o-soup from Olive Garden. It hit the spot.

We do have a wedding of a dear high school friend to attend this weekend so I'll try to remember to get some pictures of us all dressed up. Things like that should certainly be documented ;)

I thought about putting him in Hazel's toy box for the next time she comes over but wasn't sure he would want to hang around that long.

Mecca...in Tulsa?

Sorry...I meant MACCA. That's right, we made our pilgrimage to Tulsa last night and spent the evening with Sir Paul. And a few other fans. It was A.MAZ.ING.

Pictures (Warning ALOT) are here: Macca 2009 Photostream

Here's a little bit of video until we can upload some more. It's ok to cry. I did.
Editor's note: This is the song Wiser played right after he popped the question, so that might explain some of the waterworks. And also, it's Paul McCartney!!!

(insert clever title here until I get some coffee)

Yesterday was a fabulous day that involved NO MANUAL LABOR. In the morning we went to a really sweet wedding reception for our friends Brian and Angeleigh that recently got married in Tampa. They had Cafe Evoke serving coffee, a cinnamon roll bar and a picture and video slideshow that let us enjoy their beautiful ceremony on the beach. After the video Wiser asked "how long do we have to wait to renew our vows?" ;)

In the afternoon, we picked up Mindy and Hazel and went to Sage for some yummy, fresh organic salads. And I know she's not my biological child, but that little stinker was extra adorable so you'll just have to grin and bear the picture onslaught:

After lunch, it was more race-or-chase on the patio with a little tu-tu soccer time for good measure. By the time we got home, Boom was pooped.

Silly Mom.

Coach Wilson shows HEW some of her sweet soccer skills.

And tomorrow the Wiser birthday celebration continues as we head to Tulsa for the Paul McCartney (!!!) concert. He's already prepared me for the possibility of tears. From him.

Friday Night in The City

Last night we ventured down to the Plaza District with Sharla for Live on the Plaza.

We hung out at 1708, celebrating Cafe Evoke's recent win for Best New Service Company in the Gazette's Best of OKC,

1708

finally got to try Big Truck Tacos straight from the Big Truck (yummy!),

bigtrucktacos

watched a live graffiti demonstration,

live graffiti at Live on the Plaza

and throughly enjoyed the Fanny Pack Fashion Show at DNA galleries (apparently a little too much to even get some pictures, but this is the red carpet).

Red Carpet for the Fanny Pack Fashion Show

Afterwards, Sharla absconded with most of our floor-painting supplies and equipment to work on some of her floors, so everyone needs to start harrassing her for blog updates!

I'm on a deck!

We got to enjoy a lovely dinner last night on the fabulous new deck at the Wilson's house. It was a gorgeous evening, delicious food and our favorite company.

Hazel taught Boom a new game, but we're not sure if it was Chase...

chase...

or Race.

or race?

But who even cares when you get smiles like this?

He is one of us now.

Wiser is truly one of the family now; he got his very own birthday inflatable this morning.
Drive-by caking.

I fed him a healthy, nutritious and delicious breakfast,

...and then sent him out to work!
Birthday chores.

Happy Birthday, Wiser. I'm sure thankful you were born :)

Friday Fill-ins

ffi

just thought I'd try something different (got this from http://fridayfillins.blogspot.com)

1. _Lemonade pie_ is my favorite summertime _dessert_.

2. My favorite John Hughes movies is _16 Candles_. No, Ferris Bueller's Day Off! Wait, Breakfast Club...shoot, Pretty In Pink...oh oh oh, Planes, Trains and Automobiles! Shucks, I even liked Home Alone...

3. _Anything soft_ is something I love to touch. (I'm very tactile; that was one of the reasons I chose my wedding dress, because I loved how the satin felt.)

4. The full moon _is amazing_. Always makes me stop and stare.

5. _I wish I were finishing our floor_ right now.

6. When daylight fades _I do, too_.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to _finishing our floor!!_, tomorrow my plans include _putting the house back together and shopping for Wiser's birthday_ and Sunday, I want to _enjoy it_!

When it rains...

UPDATE: I can't even feel sorry for myself this morning because my parents' shed CAUGHT ON FIRE. My mom came home from working out and some wonderful, kind, mysterious, unknown neighbor had pulled over and was spraying the shed with one of their garden hoses, pretty much putting the fire out himself, according to the firemen (angels among us, anyone?).
The structure is ok from what I understand; it was mostly things inside that were melted and destroyed, including Christmas decorations and our wedding chuppah. I'm a little sad about that, but at least we have our pictures to remember it by.

...it RAINS. We lost our power this morning right as I got in the shower, so this was the solution:

shower by candlelight

a shower by candlelight. The power was off for about an hour; it came back on just as we were wondering how in the world we would get the garage door open so I could go to work.

Back In Black.

OK, so let's try hand ragging....
Well, brown really, but that's not how the song goes.

So the attempt at texturing, accenting, whatever was a minor tragedy. Pretty awful. I didn't get very far at all before I could tell by Wiser's face that it wasn't working. I tried several techniques and they all just weren't right. I called my mom for an emergency consult and she agreed that the texturing cheapened the look. So we took a timeout (at Pink Swirls - fixes everything!) and we went back to solid brown.

I added a few pics of the catastrophe to our flickr photostream HERE.

I guess the next move is finishing it off with a sealer and then I'll be on the hunt for the perfect rug. I'll let you know how that goes...

Wiser and the Chocolate Factory.

Hazel came over yesterday to make sure the floor is adequate for dance parties:
(sorry for the crick in the neck.)

We've added a second coat of brown paint and are still really pleased with our chocolate floor.

Here are some more progress pics: Floor pictures (start with the Starby's pic).

I'm a little goosey about adding anything else because we like the way it looks, but I'm going to stick with my original idea and add some texturey/accent colors tomorrow...keep your fingers crossed! And if we hate it, it'll be back to the chocolate river!

Floor progress.

And now to the tackboard.

I might be delusional, but it's not nearly as bad as I expected...we're waiting for the primer to dry, so I thought I'd take a chance to post our progress.

Here's what we've done so far: Floor Progress Pics

More later!

Denial.

...but I'm thankful for the vacation we got, so I'll smile :)

I think I've been avoiding a final vacation post/wrap up, because that means that Italy is just a memory now...but since we've both been back at work for a week and a half, I guess we're back.

Here are the final few pictures we took on our trip: Italy Day Nine & Ten

We had some trouble returning home because there was a large weather system over France that delayed our plane from Milan to London. When we finally arrived in London 1 1/2 hours late, we had just missed our connecting flight to the states. We were re-routed to Chicago, spent the night there and then continued home to OKC the next morning. All in all, it took us almost 48 hours to get home. Ouch.

Wiser should have the last few videos edited and uploaded soon, but here are three more days:

Thanks for all the traveling prayers, kind words, interest, well wishes and encouragement on this amazing trip. We are totally in love with Italy and can't wait to go back!
