While we were waiting for one of the countless July thunderstorms to pass by so we could go swimming over the 4th, Hazel entertained by putting on a fashion show in the stylings of deranged-homeless-baglady-chic.
And when she had tried on every piece from the dress up trunk...
This is what I could hear from the living room last night:
" Aw - come on!"
"NO! Stop him!"
Wiser (who I think still carries scars from abusive high school athletes picking on band kids - big meanie bullies) has totally gotten into the hometown NBA team this year. It's been really fun to watch him :) And the team. They have made the whole city so proud.
What a fun day to be a sports fan in Oklahoma. We got to see 3 Sooners taken in the top 4 spots in the NFL draft (Big 12 4-4)! And the Thunder beat the Lakers in the very first NBA playoff game ever played in Oklahoma City. All on the anniversary of the landrun. Seems fitting.
I haven't blogged in about 3 months and my mother is having major withdrawals so this is going to be lengthy...
Marsh (formerly known as Sharla, thanks to Hazel) had movers at her house on Thursday and was unpacked and ready for the annual Egg Hunt/Eggstravaganza/Brawl by the Saturday morning before Easter. A superhuman feat. I think it was the best turnout yet; everyone brought lots of prize (and tricky) eggs and fancy decorated baskets. I didn't get a picture of the human sized basket that Marsh's goddaughter wore, but she obviously was the basket decor winner. So here we go...
The festivities began at noon, with snacks and nourishments to make sure everyone was properly fueled and strategized for the Hunt.
The little ones hunt first:
Then, the babes are sent safely inside and the Real Hunt begins...
All in all, another super successful hunt! Thanks, Marsh, we can't wait until next year!
So last Friday, Sharla called and said "Hey, how about dinner tonight at one of my customer's restaurant?" I said "Sure!" and she sounded pleased but a little surprised. One small teeny tiny detail: the customer's restaurant is in Medicine Park (outside Lawton)...what Iheard was Nicoma Park (outside Choctaw)...about 3 hours difference in drive time. Awesome.
But we agreed so it was off to Medicine Park to Fisherman's Cove and then a dessert stop at Ann's Country Kitchen (literally in a double wide but delicious, made-fresh-daily desserts). Small town Oklahoma at its best. Sharla posted some pics of our trip HERE.
